Code.X Opens Calls for Youth Program “Code for Egypt”

“Code for Egypt” will equip Egyptian youth with entrepreneurial skills through computer science and human-centered design education.

January 18, 2024— Code.X is excited to announce “Code for Egypt”, a youth entrepreneurship program for high school students in Egypt, with local host Salahaldin International School in Cairo (SIS-Cairo) and co-sponsor Lotus Education. Code for Egypt will be a geographical expansion of Code.X’s proven three-year youth education program, which blends computer science and human-centered design education to provide students with invaluable entrepreneurship and innovation skills. Each summer, students will be taught in-person in Cairo during a 14-day intensive by Code.X volunteers from top U.S. universities and tech companies. Code.X’s curriculum develops computational, creative, and critical thinking skills in youth, preparing them to become change agents in their communities.

9th grade students (ages 14-15) are eligible to apply for the Code for Egypt 2024-2026 cohort, which includes 24 months of highly motivated, dedicated program participation. This cohort will begin with a 14-day summer camp in 2024, followed by a 14-day summer camp in 2025, before graduating after a final 14-day summer camp in 2026. Students will practice the skills they learn over the summer with additional twice-monthly extracurricular classes between September and May.
