I know this sounds cliche, but teaching with Code.X was a transformational experience for me! I taught content that I absolutely loved, made really good friends from a new country, and got to immerse myself in a new local culture for several weeks. I also had the flexibility to expand an already awesome curriculum, focusing on social justice and liberatory design. I would very strongly recommend Code.X to anyone who has no summer plans yet or whose summer plans unexpectedly freed up!

YouthCode Gaza was a life changing experience. The students are forever in my heart, and the staff and TAs were nothing but supportive and encouraging; overall, this kind of work is really important to do and is good for the soul.

Teaching in this camp has inspired me to learn more about computer science myself, and to explore a passion I have for spreading knowledge in the fields I love.

Code.X made me realize my love for teaching; I was excited to wake up everyday to work on the curriculum, interact with students in the class, and chill with them in the evening!

Within two weeks, Korçë, Albania became a home away from home: we’d eat together, play sports together, exchange our cultures. This experience was so much more than just teaching students how to code, it was indelible.

This was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. It was so meaningful and fulfilling to get to meet the students and see their eyes shine up everytime they were given positive feedback. I would definitely recommend the program to anyone interested, and if it would have been possible, I would teach these students every summer from now on.

Code for Palestine was an incredible experience - I had been looking for ways to bring design teaching to high school students and educate on the career opportunities in this industry. With recent events, I was also looking for ways to give back to and help uplift the Palestinian community and this opportunity was the perfect intersection of both. I was blown away by how engaged, excited and talented the students were, and I'm so grateful to have seen them grow so much week after week!

Code.X students kept me on my toes inside and outside our (virtual) classroom. They are committed to learning and growth which makes teaching them all the more meaningful. They're so much fun to work with and get to know - especially during activities where they have a change to let their personalities shine through.

What makes Code.X really special is the high level of dedication from students and volunteer instructors have to build strong relationships, learn new skills, and build things together. It's an unforgettable experience that will move you, that will fill your heart and soul.

This camp was the exact example of getting into something spontaneously and get the best out of it. It was absolutely joyful to see how these kids open up, how they evolve and how they shine at the end. I'm truly grateful that I could be a tiny part to it.

If I could go back to my high school days and find an organization to introduce me to computer programming, I'd be hard-pressed to find one like Code.X. I've never met students that have so much grit, passion, and willingness to learn such an involved skill, despite the fact that English is not their first language.

Code for Albania 2021 was an amazing experience and an opportunity to share your passion for CS with the most amazing students. The challenge of building lecture materials in various formats to interact with the class in it self was a rewarding experience as I learned how to be engaging and knowledgeable for the topics I teach.

Code.X creatively adapted to our 2020 circumstances and rose to the occasion of still creating something memorable and lovely for both students and instructors.

Code.X holds the potential for so much more than just teaching students in another country. Even in a virtual context, the decisions you make as an instructor entail unprecedented freedom to grow as a teacher that I hadn't experienced in assistant teaching roles prior. More than anything, the students blew me away with their diligence, thoughtfulness, and excitement. Truly fantastic!

My experience was wonderful. This is the first time that I've ever taught my own class of students, and Code.X did a brilliant job organizing the instructors, advisors, TAs, and students. I felt honored to be a part of the cause, and so grateful that I could impart some of my CS training to students who were passionate about learning it.

I jumped in last minute, and the camp required serious time and energy commitments but it was easily one of the most rewarding things from this summer! Seeing the students grow in confidence and having a sense of purpose at the end was heart-warming. Finally, working with some of the most passionate instructors I've met who share the same purpose and passion was exactly what my quarantine summer needed.

I had such a great time - even in the remote environment! It's so special being able to teach students who really want to learn. They're really so impressive for their ages. I couldn't recommend it more!

Code.X was one of the most fun and gratifying experiences of my life. Both working with the fellow instructors and connecting with the students was an absolute dream. There's this feeling you get when, even within a two-week window, you see a student really grasp a new concept, or grow as a human being and change their mind, that is truly incomparable. Just do it.

Teaching coding in Albania will be an experience I'll cherish for the rest of my life. I felt extremely supported by the local Albanian staff. Amazing - this experience opened my eyes to many challenges of teaching as well as the joys of improving the skills of and connecting with foreign students in an under-privileged area of the world. I also learned a lot about the history and politics of the Middle East from students', camp staff's, and co-instructors' perspectives.

One of the best experiences of my life - period. I had no expectations, and I certainly did not expect to love the students, the work and the country the way I did. This was a fantastic way to use the education that Stanford offers to empower a future generation of brilliant and motivated Palestinian high school students that lack opportunity due to their political and geographic circumstances.

I had an amazing experience! Code for Albania far exceeded my wildest expectations. The students' passion, earnestness, and energy brought a lot of joy to the teaching experience every day. You are constantly challenged to do the best you can do as a teacher and mentor, and it will push you to grow.

This was truly an amazing experience. Not only was it amazing to have had this opportunity in Palestine but it was truly an honor to be able to instruct the kids who have an amazing drive to learn.
